YOUNG ARTISTS RESIDENCY at Musikakademie Schloss Weikersheim
Our Young Artists Residency will be held from 7th - 14th July 2026 at the magnificient Musikakademie Schloss Weikersheim, located in the South of Germany. >>>>Applications are closed as we are fully booked!<<<<
Who should apply?
The Residency is a full week residential training course tailored for very experienced musicians aiming to prepare repertoire for public concerts. The Residency is specifically designed to prepare full chamber music pieces and work on the highest level. Each group will work closely with one of our tutors. We recommend a maximum of two groups per player. There are no 1:1 lessons but instead very focussed daily coaching, masterclasses and performance practises. Everyone will perform in one public concert.
Priority will be given to experienced players 18+. However, younger players can be accepted if they are experienced. The selection process is stringent as we have limited space.
The picturesque and peaceful setting of Weikersheim invites for focussed work with sociable evenings in the entertainment basement, peaceful walks in the gardens and a complimentary tour of the beautiful castle on Monday. Following the concerts, participants are free to do independent sight-seeing of the Castle or the nearby cities.
Schedule(subject to change):
- Tuesday 7th July 2026 arrival by 17:00, followed by first dinner, welcome meeting and first rehearsals
- Wednesday 8th July- Saturday 11th July full days of rehearsals, classes and performance practise
- Saturday 11th July morning rehearsals, leisure activities, sight-seeing of the Castle
- Sunday 12th July morning rehearsals, leisure activities, travel to Hospitalkirche Schwaebisch Hall, Concert at 18:00
- Monday 13th July , morning rehearsals, leisure activities, concert at 19:30 at Weikersheim
- Tuesday 14th July departure by 9:30

Getting there:
The easiest way to get to Weikersheim is by car or train. The nearest airports are Frankfurt/Main International, Stuttgart or Nuremberg.
Fee:
The fee of £725/ €825 includes full board, accommodation in a twin bedroom each with an ensuite, training, use of rehearsal space, use of garden surroundings and castle tour.
Cellists: You can apply for our YCM Cello Bursary Award to receive help in travel expenses for your cello! Add it to your application form.
The Akademie is very well equipped with a piano in each rehearsal room. There is a big music library for perusal. There are instrumental loans available for a modest fee of the use of a double bass, pedal harp, alto saxophone, baritone saxophone, bass clarinet and many percussion instruments. This needs to be arranged prior.

We usually only offer partial bursaries after means testing. Therefore, we strongly suggest to apply for some funding from various trusts well ahead of the course.
