Our Piano Workshop days are a great introduction to collaborative work while being a relaxed platform to improve and learn in an innovative group setting. Here, young pianists have the opportunity to connect with other players, to get some expert advice for an upcoming exam/assessment (from a former ABRSM examiner & exam board consultant), some techniques in how to deal with nerves or performance anxiety and new tools in how to improve practise habits. The number of participants will be kept low to give individual attention. Each workshop will be adjusted to the present participants.

Structured and specialized activities within a group setting including performance classes where each participant will receive 1:1 input in a supportive way
Intended for young pianists age 10-13 (as a guide), minimum grade 3 (equivalent). It is more the readiness and musical curiosity of the participant we are looking for rather than precise age or level.
Suitable for players who prepare for an exam/assessment or performance or who would like to have the opportunity to play together with other young pianists.
Participants are expected to come with at least one piece prepared. During the day, we will have sight-reading sessions within a collaborative setting e.g. 4 hands, 6 hands, 8 hands

Goals:

Develop performance confidence
Structured guidance to develop better practice habits
Improve sight-reading and rhythmical awareness by various group activities
Improve collaborative skills by playing in an ad hoc piano ensemble
Work on posture and body awareness by applying away- from- the-instrument activities based on Dalcroze method and Alexander technique

Venue:

Edinburgh Society of Musicians, 3 Belford Road, Edinburgh EH4 3BL with plenty of free parking on a Sunday. We will have access to several rooms and the two beautiful Steinway Grand Pianos within this stunning venue.

Fee:

£90 per day includes all tuition. Participants are asked to bring a small packed lunch with them for the day. Drinks and biscuits will be available for the breaks.

Apply here. Places will be offered on a first come first served basis and will only be secured after receipt of the fee. Therefore, early application is highly recommended.
